We just wrapped up an unforgettable 5-day fishing adventure with Captain Tom, the legend of Coiba. This guy knows the waters like the back of his hand—he spots fish hideouts like he’s got sonar in his soul. Always upbeat, endlessly helpful, and constantly adjusting tactics until you’re hooked up. And the stories? Hilarious. He’s part guide, part entertainer.
First mate Oldmedo was a machine—running the deck like clockwork, juggling multiple lines, keeping everything smooth and under control. The action never stopped: 92 fish landed, including 2 marlins, wahoo, mahi-mahi, roosterfish, snappers, and even massive sharks. The variety was wild, and the setting? Tropical island perfection, with whales waving hello next to the boat.
The lodge was just right for us—cool A/C, refreshing cold showers, and a laid-back bar setup to unwind after 12-hour days on the water. It’s not the Ritz, it’s not some luxury lodge, but primo fishing base with everything we needed... adventure gold.
Dinners were a blast—great food, fresh catch, and easily the best-tasting fish I’ve ever had. We laughed a lot, ate well, and soaked in the magic of a place that feels like nowhere else on Earth.
Captain Tom’s outfit is truly one-of-a-kind. To be in a world-class fishery with almost no one else around? Five-star fishing, hands down.
