Lovely leisurely late lunch in delightful surroundings

点评：Lovely late lunch as part of a tour package after a visit to the museum. Four course meal was very good and staff very attentive and helpful. We had to move no thanks to the rain so couldn't enjoy the beautiful gardens. We ended up in the conservatory-style section which was fine. We had a set menu, so options were a bit limited. Our party consisted of non Kenyans bar a friend who joined us, so it would have been nice to have had some local delicacies. We had a long, relaxed meal that went on into the evening and weren't pressured to hurry which was great.
The one downside was a misunderstanding at the end where we'd been charged for hot water. Apparently this is fairly new policy because some people take advantage of the surroundings and spend a long time without ordering anything but hot water. Our Kenyan friend said she'd never had this experience before. We made sure to ask at subsequent restaurants we went to, to be sure we weren't being billed for hot water but nowhere else had this policy. Thankfully it was all resolved and hot water charges were taken off our bill. The staff had been great throughout, so it was a shame this happened but this is a management issue. Although the incident left a bit of a sour note to our visit, I'd definitely recommend this place. It's a really lovely establishment which I'd happily visit again when next in Nairobi.
