点评：A Kayak Shack is officially certified as a Certified Active Wildlife Steward (CAWS) by Sea Otter Savvy! This shop demonstrates a high degree of stewardship in its daily operation and works hard to inform kayak renters of guidelines for paddling responsively around Morro Bay's incredible wildlife.
If you are the type of visitor that has never sea kayaked–or haven't in a long while and maybe aren't as limber as you once were–then rent your kayak here. They have the easiest set up for you to get into the kayak. You hold onto a bar that goes across the dock and you step off the platform down into the kayak and just sit down. There are also handles hanging from that bar to assist in ascent or descent. A Kayak Shack staff member, Andrew gave us a very informative talk about the sea otters with examples of the distance we should keep between our boat and the otters as well as visual aids showing us how to recognize otter behaviors that indicate when you are too close. We were well prepared by staff to enjoy our experience while practicing wildlife stewardship. We had a beautiful calm morning in the bay with some fog and blue sky adding to our enjoyment. We got to see a mother sea otter with a small pup, and we remembered what Andrew told us about keeping our distance and giving them space as did other kayakers that had rented from the same spot. We highly recommend renting a kayak from A Kayak Shack if you want to explore Morro Bay from the water and view wildlife respectfully and responsibly. The sea otters thank you for paddling responsibly!
