点评:What a great experience. We were warmly welcomed and given maps of the site along with detailed information about the layout.
We spent 3 hours slowly enjoying the carefully saved history of Australia. The whole town showed how things were, the dirt streets that used to be present in townships and still are in some towns.
Old machinery and vehicles with homes that showed how people lived. Shops, offices, hospital and dentists even has equipment used in past years.
It was fascinating to see, and using our imagination we took ourselves back to those times to get an idea of how tough life must have been.
Congratulations to the owners. A huge task to undertake and manage, very well established and so worth seeing.
Old Tailem is not trying to be an official town like Ballarat and Broken Hill which may have outside funding and more volunteers to help, but an outside museum of interesting history and maintained with limited income.
We were also treated to a detailed explanation of how the machinery worked and its history.
I guess imagination is needed to fully enjoy the experience.
When we were about to leave and a cuppa was provided as part of the admission fee. We also enjoyed looking at the photo history available to view.
We will return again and our family members are arranging a visit.
Great value for money with the admission fees.
