点评：Visiting *Tham Khao Luang Cave* isn’t just about the cave itself—it’s a full sensory journey that begins the moment you arrive at the base of the limestone hills outside Phetchaburi. The landscape is lush and cinematic: “rolling green hills”, “orange tree plantations”, and the occasional glint of a golden chedi peeking through the trees. The air is thick with birdsong and the scent of frangipani, setting the tone for something sacred.
The Ride Up – A Joy in Itself
Before you even reach the cave, you’ll hop into a *charming little Thai song taw car—a small 4 wheel truck, covered ride that zips up the winding road with a playful hum. It’s a short but funny journey, with a smelly oil smoke and glimpses of the tools drivers use to fix their rides. The ride adds a touch of whimsy and nostalgia, but also shows the hard work of these man. A tip to help with gas is always welcome.
We visited the place around 3:30 pm when the place is about to close. Although you can no longer enter the cave, the “eerie quiet”, broken only by the flutter of bats or the distant echo of footsteps, sets the tone for a deeply introspective experience.
