点评:Blessed with wonderful weather and the sunny disposition of our guide, Gill, we had a wonderful visit to the Framework Knitters in Ruddington today.
It would be a major mistake this think this is only of interest to women, my husband and his father enjoyed learning about the history and technology just as much as my mum and I did!
It’s not a large museum but it’s value packed with elements of a life all too familiar to many of our ancestors. One of struggle, unfairness and the desire to survive. (Note we easily spent 2hours there)
Surviving isn’t a struggle here though as there’s even a delicious cafe to assist in chasing away and hunger pangs and a shop selling goods produced locally that replicate those the frame workers would have made at very reasonable prices.
Like way too many places that have important tales to tell about our industrial past- this place has to self fund but it’s worth every penny of the entry fee.
