Booking Mokoro trip to Okavango on cheep.

点评：We bypassed travel agencies and booked mokoro 1 day trip directly with Okavango Kopano Mokoro Community Trust (OKMCT) office. This avoids travel agencies and their hefty fees. OKMCT office is on Sir Seretse Khama Rd about 5 km outside of Maun (google will help you to find your way there). We went there a day before our mokoro trip.
Fees per day are as follows:
P105 per vehicle for concession entrance fee.
P315 for hiring Head Poler (paid directly to the poler at landing)
P105 for renting mokoro (2 people fits in)
P105 camping fee (if you stay overnight)
If you have 4x4 vehicle then you pay above fees, collect voucher/ permit at OKMCT office and just drive to the landing to start your mokoro trips. It takes about 90 minutes drive to get from Maun to mokoro landing. Most of the people start driving from Maun at 7:30AM and get on water shortly after 9AM.
We had to hire a driver with 4x4 vehicle for 1 day to drive us from our Maun hotel to mokoro landing. OKMCT person helped with this as a side private arrangement. This cost us additional BWP1,700. We also bought lunch for ourselves and poler.
So, all together we spent BWP2,330 for 2 people 1 day mokoro trip. It would have been only BWP630 if we had our own 4x4 vehicle.
