点评:We had two separate experiences today. First, we were delayed 40 min at the border crossing from Croatia to Bosnia & Herzegovina. We had to be photographed, fingerprinted, and answer questions before we were allowed to cross. Today marks the first day of more stringent measures to protect the border.
The other experience was a terrific and unprecedented encounter with the wild horses atop a remote hill with no development except for a couple of concrete watering holes for the horses. The drive up in the Land Rover was rough like a series of air turbulence on a plane. Our driver, Mato (not Mato, the owner of the tour company), knew how to find the most horses -- about 20; he even knew personally some of the horses, especially the ones not afraid to be stroked.
Surprisingly, Mato served us a quick, light but satisfying, lunch of soft rolls and local cheese with local, rose or honey-flavored wine (very alcoholic, 50%). Yummy cheese.
We all enjoyed the close encounters with the tame but wild horses. Their coat and manes were full of burrs and debris. They looked healthy too.
Returning to the cafe, we each paid 35E for the excursion -- good value.
