点评:I actually loved this. I’m a big petrol head with a good amount of track experience but I’m not fortunate enough to own / drive supercars so I seen this as an opportunity to simply experience things out of reach for me.
I chose to go to Knockhill as I’d been there a few times before and knew the track (great decision).
Going in with mindset of it’s simply about understanding the ‘feel’ of the car rather than getting to go flat out I signed in and headed off for the first drive (a Gallardo).
Upon getting in the instructor couldn’t have been nicer (they all were great) and we set off. This is where it got interesting, within a few laps of teaching and observing they learn how good you are at listening and skilled in car control / understanding of the lines. Once they realised you’re not there for a joyride they start to push you on and you actually get to experience the car. On your card they score you and it’s passed on to the next instructor which meant you weren’t reset back to a basic level. By the last car they were pushing me really hard and I loved it.
I honestly had an amazing time and have been recommending it to my many skeptical car friends who had a perception of what it would be like.
Top tips:
- double distance is a must, it’s way more important than number of cars.
- listen to exactly what they say, you get rewarded for it.
- the 911 GT3 is by far the most raw experience.
- ask the atom driver to ‘send it’ and be humbled in your own lack of ability.
