During my visit, I was struck by the calm atmosphere of the river. Houseboats and historic paddle steamers drifted along the water, while the banks were lined with magnificent old trees creating beautiful reflections on the surface. It felt like stepping into another era of Australian history.
One of the highlights of the Murray River is that there are so many ways to enjoy it. You can take a paddle steamer cruise, hire a houseboat, go fishing, enjoy a picnic by the water, or simply sit quietly and watch the wildlife.
