点评:Great experience with the whole process
As per positive reviews from trip advisor, we spoke to Pandit Gautam Gayabji (9234270031) a month before we went
Being South Indians he said he would arrange for a south indian style ceremony
He facilitated by booking hotel for us in advance which I will review seperately
Since we reached in the afternoon and had a train the next day morning we asked for an afternoon ceremony which he said he would arrange
The essential parts of the ceremony are as follows:
1. Reach the premises on the banks of Falgu river
2. Change into dhoti/kurta at seperate room
3. Need to prepare PINDS from the sticky rice provided ..we had to make 96 small pinds of rice
4. Pind daan ceremony by pandit ...we had a karnataka guy so did it in our style
5.Immerse one third of the pinds in the Falgu river, one third in the temple opposite and one third in the banyan tree in the premises
6.Discard used clothes
The whole process takes 2 to 2.5 hours
You can offer a set of utensils and other items to any number of your ancestors... each set is priced at 1500 ..we offered three. This is voluntary only if you want
The cost of feeding Brahmins is 900/ total
Keep 100 rupee notes --4/5 for the various priests and 5/10 rupee coins as alms
Pandit can be paid as per your wish. He does not quote a figure for his services
We were extremely happy with Pandit Gautam and paid 2000/ as his fees
Panditji was in touch with us before we reached Gaya and came to see us as soon as we reached the hotel
He also arranged a taxi from the airport at prices much lower than those quoted
He was absolutely clear upfront about the cost of the various daans available and very easy to deal with
He made our trip very easy and fulfilling
Gaya is a place people go to liberate their deceased ancestors and help them achieve Moksha
A pleasant experience left us feeling very satisfied without a bad taste in our mouth
