点评：Like many, I was completely overwhelmed when initially looking for a guide for our time in Normandy. There are so many options and the same few "big" names come to the front of all the Google, TripAdvisor, Viator searches, especially when looking for a Band of Brothers tour. We really wanted to support an individual operator rather than be "just another number" to one of the dozens of guides hired by the same giant tour operators (many of whom don't even live in Normandy!). We are SO glad we found Iain Hennelly of NormandyONTour.
The experience we had with Iain was better than we ever possibly could have imagined. From the initial interactions via email and phone calls, Iain was extremely thorough and communicative. Iain never left us waiting for responses or questions. He showed genuine interest in putting together the best possible day for us and working with our unique requests. The tour we were looking for did not (at the time) appear on Iain's website, but he graciously listened to our requests for the day and put together an utterly amazing tour circuit that was customized just for us. We had such a fantastic time, and afterward Iain was able to add this circuit to his list of offerings on his website so others can have the same experience.
We wanted to see the highlights of the D-Day landings AND many sites from the Band of Brothers series while STILL ending at the American Cemetery for taps... quite a feat for one day! This was something that no other guide or tour company offered. Iain was able to make ALL of this happen for us! It was an utterly brilliant tour.
Iain is extremely knowledgable about all things related to D-Day and we learned so much from him on our very full-day tour. He was able to immediately answer any question we had, and even sent us a follow-up email with more information we were looking for after the tour. Iain is kind, personable, professional, and truly an expert in his field. He has taken all of the steps to set up his business in the official capacity as a tour operator and not "just" a guide. He is a true professional through-and-through.
My only regret is giving just one day to visit Normandy during our time in France. We are already planning a return trip with family and will hire Iain for a multi-day tour next time. His professionalism, educational materials, pristine vehicle, and overall kind and friendly demeanor are everything one could want in a tour operator. Book your tour with Iain, book the extra hour, and never look back. You will not be disappointed!
