点评：We took a day trip from Stuttgart using the Flixtrain that got us to Heidelberg's Main Station. Getting to/from the station in Heidelberg was easy because of good bus and tram connections and we purchased a full day transit pass so we could get on/off when we needed to for the local system. There is a convenient Tourist Information Office just outside and the staff there were super helpful in providing us information for Heidelberg so we could take the right bus and get to the funicular to get to the Heidelberg Castle.
The train station has some modern art pieces inside as well as some quick service options. There is also a waiting area where you could sit if you need to wait for your train to arrive at the platform. We are always surprised that you have to pay to use the washrooms in Germany and it is what it is. They also have lockers near the washroom area so you can store bags here if needed. The station was not too busy when we visited but got busier in the late afternoon.
The station is to the southwest of Heidelberg's main attractions and the tram takes about 7 minutes to Bismarckplatz which is the start of the pedestrian street where many of the sites to see are. It is about a 15 minute tram ride to get to Marktplatz which is close to the city hall and the funicular to get to the Heidelberg Castle. We spent about 4 hours in Heidelberg and it takes the train about 45 minutes to get to this station from Stuttgart Central Station.
