Tour was canceled mid-tour

点评：The people/staff were very friendly. We had booked our tour a week in advance. On our scheduled date January 4, we were informed there were icy roads at the summit and we may not be able to do the tour. The staff (Jase) was very nice. He asked us to continue waiting until the morning of our scheduled tour. He was sure and assured us that the roads would open again so that we could do our tour. However, we were also waiting on the summit rangers for the OK. That morning, the tour bus picked us up, and about 15 minutes into the drive , the bus driver had told everyone in the group tour (10 people or so) that the roads were still closed. As a result, we our tour was cancelled.
We were only in Kona for 3 days. And as a result, had wasted a full day at the island. This was our only tour on the island and were really really looking forward to it. As many know, the big island is beautiful, but not much to do except for a handful of excursions and eating. Since it was already mid day , we were not able to book any tours.
While I really appreciate Jase and the company continually trying to keep the tour going. Any amount of uncertainty, they should have just canceled the trip at the beginning, so that we could book a different tour.
Perhaps in the future we would give big island another chance.
