Penny is a Gem!
Key West Visitors Center的点评
点评：Travelled to KW in March 2025 for a day trip from Ft Lauderdale. Having escaped from the long Canadian winter, we were very excited! But quickly, were disappointed when we couldn’t get into Bahia Honda State Park, the only place we had researched. So we checked the map and found a visitor center near by in Pig Pine. Penny kindly greeted us. She now runs an information center hidden in a very sweet gift shop The very clean restroom was useful with wonderful hand scrub. Penny recommended a near by rest area for our picnic and even took down my information to keep in touch. The natural habitat at the rest area was just what we needed to unwind. The cutest little deer were the nicest surprise. And we saw fish of the dock. The restrooms were big even though few.
Then we continued our journey to KW and again Penny kindly suggested a beach to visit via text. She was like our personal guide through out the day.
Now this is where it gets interesting. We were unfortunately in KW on the day of the horrible brush fire that shut down the HWY 1 in both directions unbeknown to us. As we were finishing our supper and ready to make the long drive back to Ft Lauderdale I received a text from our sweet friend Penny informing us about the fire situation warning us to check the news and that we’d most likely be stuck in the Keys for the night. The struggle to find a plan was real. But Penny stayed in touch with us along the way. In the end we ended up taking our chances and drove through when the HWY finally reopened for a brief time. (Got back to FT Lauderdale at 5:30am BTW) the next day Penny even checked up on us to see if we were ok. We are so grateful for Penny and all her help. Her kindness and sincerity were remarkable. I couldn’t have survived that VERY long night without her. A real gem in the beautiful Keys! Thank you

接下来，事情变得有趣起来。不幸的是，我们在KW的那天，一场可怕的丛林大火在我们不知情的情况下导致1号公路双向封闭。吃完晚饭，准备驱车返回劳德代尔堡时，收到了我们亲爱的朋友Penny的短信，告知我们火灾情况，提醒我们查看新闻，而且我们很可能会被困在佛罗里达群岛过夜。想找到一个合适的方案确实很不容易，但Penny一路上都和我们保持联系。最终，我们还是冒险开车过去了，直到1号公路短暂恢复通行。（顺便说一下，我早上5:30就回到了劳德代尔堡）第二天，Penny甚至还来探望我们，看看我们是否安好。我们非常感谢Penny和她所有的帮助。她的善良和真诚令人敬佩。如果没有她，我不可能熬过那个漫长的夜晚。她真是美丽的佛罗里达群岛上的一颗明珠！谢谢你们
