Amazing time in Lombok with Jhony and Maciu

点评：Since the weather wasn't so great on my 4th day staying on Gili Air I thought I would give Lombok a try and found Jhony here on Tripadvisor.
We could easily discuss the details on WhatsApp and agreed to do a day trip to Lombok the next day. He recommended places to visit and I gladly listened to him. Jhony turned out to be a really nice, down to earth guy with a great sense of humor, good English and a can-do attitude.
He personally came to Gili Air from Lombok to help me find the private boat that he had booked because the harbor was quite hectic due to the weather. Upon landing in Lombok, he then took me to a local market, which was really interesting, and then we went to north-east to the Tiu Kelep waterfall. Maciu, Jhony's uncle took me over after this, who's a certified trekking guide to the waterfalls and a local legend according to Jhony. :)
Maciu, just like his nephew is a down-to-earth, nice guy with good English, who knows the tracks very well. The track to the waterfalls were more challenging than I had expected but I was up for the challenge and - as it turned out - it was worth it. The natural beauty of this area is indescribable. Maciu then guided me to a traditional village called Senaru, where I was given some tea and had the chance to have Maciu talk about their culture and traditions. It was very interesting.
I was then picked up by Jhony and after another stop to have lunch and check out a beautiful rice terrace he took me back to the harbor, where he waited for the boat with me.
If you're in Lombok or on one of the Gilis don't skip the opportunity to have Jhony and Maciu show you the beauties of Lombok. Most definitely worth it.
