点评:We had a fascinating tour of the 17th century Peliatan Royal Palace in Ubud where the royals still reside. Your eyes can feast on typical Balinese architecture around every corner. It’s a venue where you experience serenity and tranquility. A nephew of the current royal family greeted us and cordially answered questions about Bali. We had dinner with him. Afterward we saw the Kecak Dance performance. There were approximately 30-50 male dancers rhythmically chanting “cak-cak-cak.” Those verbal percussive accompaniment for the performance replaced traditional gamelan music. Also two Balinese female dancers participated in this performance along with several other costume characters. The dance was rich in symbolism, representing the struggle between good and evil, courage, loyalty, and the power of faith.
