Beautiful, good labelling of plants
The Kochi Prefectural Makino Botanical Garden的点评
点评：Not as big as some botanical gardens I have visited, but one of the best, and it is well-tended. It took about three hours to fully explore, so it's big enough. The setting is very scenic, with some lovely scenic overlooks. At the time I was there, at the end of March, the flowering shrubs, such as cherries, rhododendrons and forsythias, were in bloom; this made the garden particularly beautiful.
If you are a gardener, you will appreciate that almost all plants or groupings of plants have labels which give not only the Japanese plant names but also the botanical names.
The large greenhouse had many tropical plants. It also had a beautiful display of various kinds of orchids.
In the garden there is a very nice cafe in the administration building; however, it can get busy at lunchtime, so if you want to eat there, it may be wise to go there early. Otherwise, you will have to wait for a table.
Access was easy by the My-Yu bus. If you want to use the Mi-Yu bus to continue on to some of the other stops such as the Chikurinji Temple or the Katsurahama beach using the bus, make sure you memorize where you get off, or take a picture of the stop. The entrance area overall is quite large, and I at least found it quite confusing to find the proper place to re-board the bus to continue on the loop after your visit here. It is marked properly, but you'll find it more easily if you've memorized a landmark or two close by.
Overall, a very worthwhile visit.
