点评：The colonial Tudor style two storied structure with an eye-catching clock tower known to be built in 1894 was a bustling spot. Many visitors were seen buying picture postcards and stamps from this historic postal precinct and posting them. It was already a very popular place with the tourists as we observed the place being filled with them out numbering the local patrons. It was catering to many of the tourist needs like selling souvenirs, picture postcards, cards for events, stamps, first day covers, key tags and other paraphernalia while providing postal services. On the day of our visit the weather was bad with some rains and the floor area meant for customers within the post office was wet due to some serious leaks of the roof. With all that mess, still the officers remained very calm and cheerful and went about serving the visitors efficiently. They had somehow managed to keep all that were on display safe from getting wet by the unfortunate conditions. It was obvious that mint stamps would have required protection from the humid conditions.
This iconic centre with its beautiful façade and overall design indeed was a tourist attraction and the heritage building was serving a great service. It was a place to enjoy the old-world charm. Counters which might have undergone modification in later years appeared to be out of place in character to this old interior. A postal museum within this building depicting the early postal services would have been a great asset for the visitors to spend more time and issuing a stamp with the picture of this post office exclusively to be sold at this post office and franking it with a dedicated seal when posting items from there would have been a great memorabilia.
