The highlight of our Tanzania trip!

点评：We just finished our 5 day stay with the Maasai through Visit Natives, and I honestly don’t have the exact words to describe how authentic and life changing the experience was. I was a bit worried about camping in Tanzania, but the Visit Natives setup was incredibly comfortable while still feeling real and connected to local life.
The team was amazing: our driver Ali, our Maasai guide Nathan, and everyone else. They set up the entire camp quickly including our tents, the kitchen tent, and even a proper toilet tent, all right next to our Maasai hosts. Our chef Ema was simply incredible. He created delicious meals in the middle of the bush under the most challenging conditions. We never had any stomach issues, and the food was beyond what we imagined with warm soups, tasty main courses, fresh fruits, and sometimes even surprise desserts.
Nathan welcomed us into his home community, a traditional Maasai boma with many families living together. We learned so much about their traditions, daily challenges, and the changes affecting Maasai life today. We also visited a local school and dispensary, which was both heartwarming and eye opening. We were even lucky enough to see giraffes walking near our camp. The whole area is so remote and beautiful that it felt like stepping into a nature documentary I used to watch while dreaming of Africa.
Even after doing a 4 day safari in Serengeti, I can honestly say that staying with the Maasai was the highlight of our entire trip to Tanzania. If you are wondering whether you should book this experience, yes, absolutely. You won’t regret it.
Tip: We brought some fruit for the children from the local market, and they really enjoyed it. It’s a small, thoughtful gesture that was appreciated.
