Overrated and Disappointing – Not the Luxury Experience We Expected

点评：We visited Balesin expecting a luxurious island getaway, as they proudly promote — but the experience fell far below expectations.
The villa we stayed in was outdated, smelled old and moldy, and even had cockroaches. For a resort that brands itself as high-end, this was unacceptable.
Food prices across the island were unreasonably high. Dishes start at ₱600 and up — pork sisig was ₱680, and pancakes with bacon and other breakfast set cost ₱780. Most of the food wasn’t worth the price. The only restaurant we truly enjoyed was the Chinese restaurant — the food there was delicious, even if pricey.
Service was also a letdown — slow, disorganized, and inattentive throughout our stay.
Our return flight to Manila was canceled and moved to the next day. We were given conflicting information about where we would land — first Pasay, then Cavite, then Clark — which made it impossible to provide accurate pickup instructions. To make things worse, our luggage was misplaced and ended up in Clark while we landed elsewhere.
There were also safety and maintenance concerns. The swimming pool had broken tiles — my daughter even got a cut while swimming. We rented a golf cart for over ₱9,000, which turned out to be defective. It had no rear barrier, causing an unpleasant and unsafe accident.
The only highlights of the trip were the beautiful white sand beach, the aviary zoo (which was a pleasant surprise), and the food at the Chinese restaurant. The island itself has natural beauty and potential, but poor management and upkeep make it far from the luxury escape it claims to be.
Overall, for the premium price and the amount of stress we experienced, the trip was a major letdown. We sincerely hope Balesin’s management takes these issues seriously. Until then, we cannot recommend it.
