Observatorium Roque de Los Muchachos的点评
点评：Whichever way you decide to get to the collection of world-class observatories at Los Muchachos, you are in for a great drive. The roads are perfectly good, but have a huge succession of hairpin bends so you need to be both careful and confident - the posted speed limit of 40kmh may well be too fast! There are places to stop and admire the scenery along the way.
Private visits (maximum group size 22) to the centres take place three times a week. The usual meeting point is the Centro de Visitantes below all the telescopes. This 2+ hour visit included a fascinating presentation of the work of the observatories and access to the Large telescope itself. The presentation is in both Spanish and English, and is given by a professional astronomer with experience.
Tickets should be bought online beforehand as visits get sold out quickly.
This was one of the highlights of my visit to La Palma and is thoroughly recommended.
