Great hike that would have been awesome if not cut short by bad weather.

点评：Booked a full day hike in Capital Reef with a plan to combine 2 trail loops for the day. Markour was our guide for the day, which started out with close to perfect weather for a hike. We stopped for lunch at the end of the first trail, enjoying stunning panoramic views of the valley below and the town of Fruitca. As we ate, we watched an unexpected storm developing several miles out which appeared to be heading our way. Markour had been actively monitoring the weather conditions throughout the hike and after some discussion, decided to call the hike and get us down off the mountain before the storm hit. Although disappointed that our hike got cut short at that moment, we were grateful to have followed Markour’s guidance as we just made it back to our vehicle when the storm hit. Had a great time with Markour during the hike, and was very impressed to learn about all the work both he and Capital Reef Adventures do with bringing inner city kids, most of whom have never been outside the city, out on multiple day hikes and camping adventures in addition to arranging the same type of outings for adults recovering from an addiction as part of their treatment program. It’s inspiring to hear about such efforts to give back to the community. This was one of many events we booked during our 17 day trip through the various national and state parks throughout Utah, Wyoming and Montana and would have likely been our favorite adventure if the storm hadn’t chased us off the mountain.
