It was wonderful to hike the area around Mont Blanc, breathing the fresh mountain air and later trekking through the ragged peaked Dolomites. In addition to hiking and trekking, I learned of the ancient city of Aosta, that contains several Roman ruins and the
Oropa Sacred Mount, (a pilgrim destination) financed by the people of the small town of Biella. Another stop in the town of Monza, revealed the beautiful black and white striped marble
Duomo and within its walls, the Iron Crown, that crowned European sovereigns. The last small town of San Candido, nestled in the Dolomite valley of South Tyrol gives access to a hike around vibrant Lake Braies. Zenana Boutique Hotel in San Candido is a one-of-a-kind establishment sporting different themed rooms with views of the Dolomites. The breakfasts are lovingly prepared by the congenial proprietress, Ana.
This is a trip not to soon be missed as global warming is causing the glaciers to recede immeasurably fast. Go as soon as feasible!
