Magicland Amusement Park的点评
点评：Magicland, formerly known as Wonderland, is the largest amusement park in Nigeria. It's very popular with kids and the larger Abuja 'populace'. Magicland is fondly referred to as Nigeria's Disney Land! 😄 How apt, considering that entertainment complexes as sprawling as Magicland are few and far between in Nigeria. Magicland is located close to the National Stadium and the Abuja City Gate, on Constitution Avenue, so it's unmissable when you're driving in from the airport.
Entry in to Magicland is free, which is awesome. This means that you purchase individual tickets based on the price for each ride. All tickets are nonrefundable. They have 100, 200, 500 and 1,000 Naira tickets that come in the form of tiny stubs; (refer to a sample picture of one). Ride prices are very reasonable, with the cheapest ride costing 600 Naira (about 80 U.S Cents or 74 Euro Cents), and the most expensive at 1,500 Naira (about 2 U.S Dollars and 1.86 Euro Cents). This makes Magicland a very affordable park. It's worth mentioning that Magicland has a breathtakingly beautiful background in the form of a huge mountain-like rock. Refer to some pictures I posted. It forms an absolutely gorgeous backdrop to Magicland Amusement Park! ⛰️😍
Magicland has about 24 Rides, (listed from cheapest to priciest). They are: COW BOY, FROG JUMP, MINI WHEEL, HAPPY WORM, CAPSULE, FIRE FIGHTER, JUNGLE TRUCK, ROCK CLIMBING, BOAT RIDE, BOUNCING CASTLE, AEROPLANE, CAROUSEL, CRAZY CLOWN, FLYING BICYCLE, BIG WORM, WONDER WHEEL, ROLLER COASTER, BUMPER CAR, FLYING TOWER, SUPERSPIN, PIRATE SHIP, DISCO, WATERSPLASH and PENDULUM. My kids went on just about every ride and loved all of them.
There's an indoor FUN ARCADE with lots of colourful, fun car/motorcycle gaming machines. Was disappointed that their Mechanical Bull wasn't working. My kids really wanted to ride that. It cost 200 Naira per coin to play on the rides at the Fun Arcade. Most of them needed more than one coin per round; still very reasonable. There was JUNGLE LAND- a gym, soft-play type enclosure for younger kids. The park's toilets were located inside Fun City Arcade and they were well kept.
Magicland's food options were a big letdown. It was mostly African Dishes available, with not much to appeal to kid's palates. Stuff like Burgers, Pizza, Hotdogs, Slush and so on were no where to be found. For the Snacks, it was also a very boring selection, (refer to my posted pics). At least they had Popcorn and Cotton Candy. I saw a place called Arewa Suya outside, as well as a Shawarma & Ice Cream by the gate/main entrance, but don't know if they are operational. Suya- (for those that don't know), is traditional Nigerian spiced and smoked meat on skewers. It's a classic Nigerian delicacy and comfortable street food.
I also noticed a Gift Shop called DE PARTY SHOP and another Bazaar like booth selling traditional and western clothing. Though I think Magicland is an awesome entertainment facility, some major criticisms I have are that most of the rides seem really cranky, old and rickety. Some rides looked like they hadn't been working for ages. Though there was a sizeable crowd when we where there, Magicland seemed a bit lifeless to tell you the truth. There just wasn't that 'thrilling, energectic and exciting' vibe you get when you're at an amusement park. You know the feeling I mean right?
One of my daughters said that the place was 'a bit dead'. 😄 There weren't any colorful parades, any vibrant shows, any mascots strolling around or any upbeat music playing. They should endeavour to improve that part by introducing some type of attention grabbing entertainment, even if it's for a couple of hours over the course of the day. They also need to build more eateries and food outlets because for a park this expansive, there choices are rather limited. Would have looked to have seen Popcorn, Ice Cream, Candy Floss and Snack stalls littered all over the park.. Magicland definitely needs a face lift or a refurbishment or an upgrade. Everything looked worn, tired, faded and somewhat neglected.
All in all, we had a really fun, 'magical' day at Magicland with family, and some of my household staff. There were 11 of us and we thoroughly enjoyed our day here with lots of laughs, joy and funny moments. I really appreciate that they've kept their prices low! 🙏🏼 This is a park I can see myself returning to, time and time again- with my kids, or without them. You can just lazily stroll along the winding lanes, 'perceive' the attractive and well manicured environs and just converse with a friend or family member. I wish there were more places like this in Nigeria, but unfortunately, there aren't, so for us- Magicland has to do! Great place for kid's entertainment!
