点评:An incredible destination and the perfect focal point for a scenic Oxford trek! We made a proper day of it, walking all the way from Barton through Headington, heading down into the vibrant city center, and then picking up the tranquil canal path right off Rewley Road. From there, the walk opens up into the massive, open expanse of Port Meadow, which is always breathtaking—especially on such a beautiful, sunny day.
Port Meadow was alive with nature; we saw loads of horses and cows roaming completely free right alongside the paths. It’s rare to feel that immersed in country life so close to the city center. There was a bittersweet moment along the way when we came across a dead calf that hadn't been dead long, which was quite sad to see, but it’s all part of the wild, untamed nature of the meadow.
Reaching the ancient ruins of Godstow Abbey at the end of the walk was the ultimate payoff. The historic atmosphere right by the water makes it a stunning spot to stop, rest, and take in the surroundings. Absolute must-visit whether you're taking a long cross-city ramble or just exploring the trails around Wolvercote!
