One of Our Favorite Kauai Traditions -- and Natalie Is Still the Boss!

点评：We make a point of visiting Talk Story Bookstore every time we are on Kauai. We love supporting this friendly, family-owned independent bookstore... and admittedly, one of the biggest draws for us is Natalie, the resident “Boss Kitty.”
My daughter especially loves visiting Natalie, and this year she gave us one of our favorite memories of the trip. Natalie was snoozing in her usual basket near the front of the store when my daughter went over to take a photo with her. Natalie woke up, reached out and put a paw on her shoulder — and then reached over and rang her little bell. Not just once, but several times! Apparently, she was requesting food. The owners immediately understood her message and happily granted her wish. Clearly, Natalie has everyone well trained.
Beyond our love for Natalie, Talk Story is simply a wonderful place to browse. The owners are very nice, the atmosphere is friendly and relaxed, and we noticed that the book selection has grown considerably since our visit last year. It is the kind of independent bookstore that is increasingly difficult to find, and we are always happy to purchase a few books while we are there.
Visiting Talk Story has become one of our Kauai traditions, and we always look forward to returning. If you are driving through the area, stop in, browse the books, support a lovely local business... and hopefully say hello to the Boss Kitty.
