点评:The former Buenos Aires Zoo is being transformed into an ecopark. As such, an admirable endeavor. It is good to hear that locked-up predators and other animal species were transferred to other more respectful environments. The old zoo concept of exhibiting wild animals for human entertainment has finally been abandoned. I hope the few animals that are left like the giraff, ostriches and camel enjoy their old age after a (terrible) life in the zoo.
I think the new "eco" concept in many ways is still a bit problematic, as it is difficult to care for wild animals in a situation where their habitat is continously being destroyed by commercial activity. To recreate habitat on a small space like the premises of a former zoo with crowds of visitors walking in and out every day is a challenge. The Patagonian hares (mara) that stroll around seem to adapt well.
