点评:I visited this lake and area in early Sept. in which I thought it was a beautiful area and because it was close to where I was staying, as opposed to driving over an hour to go to the ocean where the weather is colder along the coastline. What happened though is that within less then a half hour there were yellowjackets continually flying around me- in which I got stung by one right before I decided to leave because they wouldn't leave me alone! I had only been in this area of Oregon visiting a couple of days or so thus far - so I had to suffer through the pain of the sting and other symptoms I got from it. In that respect I would have really appreciated if the person that took my $5 for entry to this area would have informed me of the conditions as I called the office she was at once I was at the beach area, and she said that yes, they were having an over abundance of them this year . They had insect bags out that ones had gone into, but it appeared those had not been emptied for sometimes as no matter how many I noticed in them after the ones around me were swarming , if the park people/rangers had managed those bags better with putting new ones out more often, then maybe they could have controlled the population of yellow jackets better!! I shared what happened to me online with the county parks and recreation Director of the county this park and lake are in. He got back to me with in so many words of how they can only manage that population of yellow jackets to a certain extent. On top of that - when I did let the person in the office know I had been stung- she said I could come back to the office or a ranger would come and they would give me an antiseptic. I chose to go back to the office so as I could leave the park after. My knee was red and hurting and swelling up, and before she gave that to me she was busy planning a vacation on the phone-as I could tell that was what the conversation was about. I believe her name was Robin and I told the recreation director he should replace/fire her because of that and also because of not informing me of the conditions in the park that day. On top of that- there was also a guy walking along the road shortly after I entered the park whom gave me the finger with both of his hands way up in the air very aggressively, Of course when I realized what he was doing - I kept driving. Saw three sheriff's vehicles right after that leaving the area rather then at the scene of this person doing what he was doing!. When driving back to the office to get the antiseptic and leave within less of an hour of my legitimately unfortunately not enjoying my time there as I would have liked to have stayed if none of what happened happened did, and my being almost the only person in the park, the same guy was along the road even farther down closer to where I was located and he did the same hand gestures aggressively. I told the woman in the office when I got there that was the case, and she said that that was why the sheriffs were there and that tat person was mentally ill and so told to just stay on the road , not in any other park area! Sigh- unbelievable what I experienced that day -as it traumatized me ,and I am not one to get easily upset otherwise. Plus a very bad initial impression to have of Oregon on one of my first days!! The recreation director offered me a free park pass as an apology or whatever. Which I told him/replied back that that doesn't solve the yellow jacker problem, nor the fact on how they handled the crazy guy being outwardly aggressive to visitors , and that he should fire the woman they had in their office for the way she handled things all around. There may be other times of the year there are less yellowjackets, but I would call or check online with the park office before choosing to go to this place. Maybe it is better when one is out on the lake, but on land- no- as I have seen other reviews of this place mentioning bees, and all kinds of other things when on land there. including one review i read right before composing mine and that review was from 10 years ago! Too bad-as this is a beautiful area that is not managed well and others have unfortunately had bad legit experiences at too.
