Glen Garioch Distillery的点评
点评：Since tasting the Glen Garioch 1995 8 years ago (Last release before the distillery closed for updates), I have had 2 goals :-
1. Find more of the 1995.
2. Do a tour of the Glen Garioch distillery.
Number 1 was achieved when I found a little store in the US that had a dozen bottles & I've been buying a bottle every year.
Number 2 was finally done in Sept 2024.
As we were only going to be in Scotland for a few days I wished to do the Warehouse 4 tour which I attempted to book from Australia. Bad luck had no tours booked for the day I wanted to go. However, I contacted the distillery & they came back and said that I could do the tour on that day. (I also wanted to do a Singla Cask bottling as well).
The day arrived & I was greeted by Julie & I was the only one on the tour. What can I say about Julie. She is BRILLIANT. Her knowledge (even with some checking of notes) of history of the distillery & the distilling process was amazing and all the while throwing in anecdotes.
On the tour there were various stops where a bottle would be waiting to sample. As I was driving, I could mainly nose the whisky & have a small sip. The ones sampled this day were a 2007 European Virgin Oak, Red Wine Cask, 17yr old (The renaissance 3rd chapter & the 1979 Oloroso Singla Cask. I was in heaven.
Back in the visitor centre I was asked which of the single casks I would like to bottle. I asked 'she who must be obeyed' & I was allowed to bottle the 1979 Oloroso (45 yrs old).
Happily walking out with my prize & the left over samples that Julie had arranged for me to have, I felt the the could be no better place on earth than being in the 'Geery'. This is a fantastic place to visit & Julie does the distillery proud.
