Great hike to caves and good for birding
Cueva del Viento的点评
点评：Beautiful hike through the forest to a cool cave. The rangers were very helpful when we arrived, and showed us examples of a couple of plants we should take care to avoid touching. There is not a lot of info online so here some good stuff to know.
1. Cueva Viento is closed. But there is another cave about 20 minutes further down the path that is open and worth going to.
2. Hike to the caves starts at the info station. Google said it was closed (on a Monday) but it was open and staffed when we were there.
3. Road getting there is very narrow and windy. You MUST honk loudly as you go around curves. Drive slowly or you may have a head on collision.
4. There is no cell service. Take a picture of the map (they gave us a paper map when we started). The trail is well marked enough if your destination is the caves and you follow the map to get there.
5. Cool trail for birders. We heard lots of black whiskered vireos and bananaquits and saw about five Puerto Rican Todis, which was the highlight for me. I couldnt believe how many Todis we saw and heard. Amazing.
