Incredible Home Stay and Kraal visit

点评：Kara-Tunga Safari Camp is a fantastic place to stay in Moroto.
And I recommend doing as many tours/experiences as you're able.
I had incredible experiences on both the Kraal Visit and the Home Stay.
My guide Daniel was really excellent, explaining so much about the Karamojong people and customs, and translating as I interacted with shepherds in the kraal and locals at the home stay.
The kraal visit is a totally wild experience, as you really will see the shepherds puncture a cow's jugular and take a couple liters of blood, which they will mix with milk and drink. The shepherds were much younger than I expected, and it was interesting to watch them at work. I would also recommend spending the night at the kraal if you're able.
As we left the kraal at sunset, we got a flat tire, and Daniel was super quick to find a mechanic at a nearby village and get it fixed. It could have been a big issue, but I felt very secure in Daniel's care, and it actually enhanced the experience, spending time chatting with people at the mechanic and sorting thru the issues.
Daniel and I also visited the cattle market and did a home stay 2 days later. I highly recommend both of those experiences too. I was totally welcome and encouraged to participate in Karamojong games and dances. I tried the delicious local beer - made from sorghum, and ate some local dinner too. The men told stories and jokes and we conversed long past sunset. The hut I slept in was beautiful and comfortable. I was sad to leave in the morning.
This experience feels so authentic and meaningful.
