Needs Proper Flight Cage
Loch Lomond Bird Of Prey Centre的点评
点评：We visited the centre in Balloch on a wet morning in June. We were on a trip to Scotland and had just been to check out the old family home in the suburbs.
I'm sorry to say that we were very disappointed in the living conditions for the residents. They were either put in a moderate sized cage or chained to an Astroturf perch sitting in front of a smaller cage.
Neither of the accommodation types had any enrichment for the birds. They do get to fly in the demonstration area, but it only accommodates six birds a day between the two flying shows.
I would love to suggest that the centre make a proper flight cage an immediate fundraising priority. If properly sized, it will allow the birds to soar and work their flight muscles. Instead of hop and flutter in a small cage. Or hop off and on a perch.
I was impressed with the various birds of prey from the Burrowing Owl to the Golden Eagle. The staff were friendly and helpful. You can tell that they love working with the birds. The birds were generally healthy looking but they didn't have any enrichment.
The flying show that we watched consisted of Common Buzzard, Burrowing Owl and a Red Kite. The presentations were very informative and the birds had a great place to really stretch their wings. All of the birds need a chance to really fly every day.
I do recommend that you visit the centre and catch one of the flying displays. Just be prepared for the living conditions of these beautiful animals. Donate for a flying cage. The birds will love it.
