点评:Pros: Very conservation-oriented park, as evidenced by the Rhino Sanctuary inside the park. If you want to see rhinos, this is the place (rhinos protected by armed rangers — no poaching since 2018). Lots of other wildlife too. The Reticulated Giraffe are plentiful, beautiful and often seen close to the road. Beautiful hippo pools Elephants, too, although better elephant-watching in other parks like Amboseli. Lions are here but are hard to find and view. Meru is very uncrowded compared with other Kenyan national parks. For some, Meru being home to Elsa of “Born Free” is a plus.
Cons: Fairly dense underbrush and the ban against getting off the park roads means you will see less wildlife than in other parks and you will see it close-up less frequently. So patience is required here (and a really good guide helps too). Also, depending you where you stay within the park, you can sometimes have pretty long and bumpy drives to you lodging.
Meru is not Amboseli or Tarangire or the Crater. But it grows on you. A solid 3 1/2 or even 4 stars.
