An absolute must-do in Rarotonga – exceeded every expectation!

点评：We did the Koka Lagoon Cruise on 20 July, and all I can say is… wow.
From the moment we stepped aboard, we knew we were in for something special. The musicians were unbelievably talented. The sound of Cook Island music drifting across the turquoise lagoon was one of those moments I’ll never forget.
We visited on a day with fair weather but a king tide , wind and some pretty strong currents. What impressed me most wasn’t just the beauty of the lagoon, it was the professionalism of the crew. The captains took safety incredibly seriously. They clearly explained the conditions before anyone entered the water, constantly monitored everyone while snorkelling, and communicated with each other the whole time to make sure every guest was safe. (Captain Hurricane on our boat i think?).
We were travelling with our four-year-old daughter, and watching the way the captain kept an eye on her while quietly communicating with my husband about waves and currents gave us so much confidence. As parents, that level of attentiveness meant everything. The crew managed to make the experience feel relaxed and fun while never compromising on safety.
The food was another huge surprise. It was absolutely delicious! fresh, full of flavour and far exceeded what we expected from a lagoon cruise bbq. Every dish was beautifully prepared, and there was plenty for everyone.
The coconut tree climbing, and other educational cultural demonstrations were another highlight. They were genuinely funny, engaging and educational without ever feeling cheesy or forced. You could tell the crew were passionate about sharing their culture, and it made the whole experience feel authentic rather than just another tourist attraction.
And then there’s the lagoon itself. It is simply magical. Crystal-clear turquoise water, white sand…it looks exactly like the postcard you’ve imagined. After lunch we spent time relaxing on the little island beach, listening to the incredible music drifting across the water.
Even while everyone was relaxing, the crew continued keeping a close watch on the water, especially the children, making sure everyone was safe. That level of care didn’t go unnoticed.
If this was Koka Lagoon Cruises on a day that wasn’t even ideal because of the tides and currents, I can’t imagine how spectacular it is in perfect conditions.
Thank you to the entire team for giving our family one of the highlights of our trip to Rarotonga. It truly was the experience of a lifetime, and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone visiting the island.
