An unforgettable day in Castelmola and Taormina

点评：We had the most incredible day yet on our trip to Sicily, all thanks to the kindness of locals and one exceptional guide—Sergio.
Before arriving, I had tried (unsuccessfully) to reach out to my husbands aunt’s first cousin, who we knew was the Mayor of Castelmola. We mentioned this to Sergio when he picked us up—and within 10 minutes, he had tracked down Mayor Russo, called him personally, and arranged for us to meet him! Seriously?!?!
From the moment Sergio arrived—right on time, in a clean and comfortable car—we knew we were in good hands. He was easy to communicate with, offered great tips on where to eat in Taormina, and had such a warm, genuine personality that made the day even more enjoyable.
When we arrived in Castelmola, a stunning town that feels like it belongs in a movie, we were greeted in the town square by Mayor Russo. He treated us to granita and brioche, gave us presents to take home, and made us feel truly welcomed. Making that connection meant so much to us.
This turned out to more than a sightseeing trip—it was personal, heartfelt, and unforgettable. If you’re headed to the Taormina area, I can’t recommend Sergio enough. You won’t just get a driver—you’ll get someone who goes above and beyond to make your experience special. We also enjoyed all of the discussion and lessons on the history and culture of the town during our time in the van from one location to the next!
