点评:Turku was the first capital city of Finland. Its Latin name is Aboa. In 1812, Russian emperor chose Helsinki instead.
In the cellar, in Aboa vetus, there is 2025 set permanent exhibition on the older & oldest known history of Turku. Especially the changing maps were fascinating.
Ars nova has never disappointed me, as far as I recall. This was my fifth or maybe sixth time here. And one of the the current art exhibitions, Anu Tuominen's solo exhibition (upstairs, behind the cafe area), was especially good.
Tuominen's brialliant and funny ideas made us laugh and discuss a lot, since our own memories, or in other words, Finnish late 1900s cultural history, were brought back to us in a lovely manner, via all kinds of materials and different things Tuominen had found or saved, and transformed into art. There were several books to buy in the museum shop on Tuominen's career as an artist.
Museum workers have always been friendly and good humoured here. There are lockers, to lock by your own code, stairs up straight from the museum shop. In the upper floors, there are also small secret bathrooms for visitors, that may go unnoticed.
