She managed the route and timing, so we avoided the worst crowding where possible, chose sensible stopping points, and kept a steady but comfortable pace. Her answers to our questions went well beyond a standard script, and it was obvious she had deep command of the material.
The combination of standing at the monuments and then examining the artifacts in the museum gave us both the “big view” and the fine detail, rather than just one or the other. Doing both the Acropolis and the museum together also turned out to be an excellent foundation for the rest of our time in Athens.
