点评:I've visited Orleans House Gallery a few times and I've always enjoyed the beautiful surroundings and the interesting temporary exhibitions. The gallery is located in a Palladian villa built in the early 18th century and it's named after Louis Philippe I, Duke of Orleans, later on King of France, who stayed there during his exile in Great Britain throughout the French revolutionary and imperial Napoleonic periods. Two of its main features are the beautiful octagon room and the art collection of Richmond Borough, which includes items belonging to the famous explorer Richard Burton who was schooled in Richmond and was buried in Mortlake. The gallery provides educational workshops and the building can be hired for weddings, so this is truly a multi-purpose venue.
Every couple of months Orleans House hosts a new temporary exhibition and the gallery's grounds, as well as the surrounding scenery, are very beautiful, so I recommend you take the opportunity to visit this site, as well as the nearby free to enter York House Gardens and Marble Hill House and Park. You most certainly won't be disappointed by the stunning views on this lovely stretch of the Thames.
