点评：We really tried to see the area and the park. There are several hurdles that suggest that the local tourism is not set for serious tourism. There are very flattering blogs that seem to be all written by the Kerala office of tourism, and a few more that copy those. It's difficult to figure out what is worth one's time from that. About the Wayanad park. The closest place you can stay next to the park is supposed to be Muthanga. I believe there is a dorm-like hostel there. Maybe there are some expensive resorts too, but I don't know if they are worth the money. Further away, the closest place is Sultan Bathery. It was very difficult to find a place to stay for a reasonable price, at the end we stayed in Brighton Stays. seems like a new place. Was clean and decent, but far away from everything. The owner reduced the price for us, and arranged an auto ricksha to take us to town, but still, there was nothing to do there, and nothing much to do in town. We were the only ones in the hotel. We managed to get a beer and go on the roof. Sunset was lovely. The park itself has only a one hour bus ride through the park, you see what you see. And number of visitors is limited too. We waited in line for half an hour only to hear that there are no more tickets for the day. We took a taxi ride on the border of the park and saw a lot of spotted deers; saw some orange minivet and an indian nuthatch (birds). I'm sure you can see some elephants too, but this is not a way to travel in a park. Periyar is much better for that (one full day hiking in a small group).
