Misleading website information for RHS members - made all the worse by jobsworths on the entrance gate.

点评：Unfortunately, I can't say whether the interior of the Riverhill Garden's is worth visiting as we only got to the front entrance.
We arrived as a family of 4 today and having read on the website that RHS members could use their pass on Weds and Thursday, thought that we would make the trip to see what activities were on offer for the children. Upon looking for my RHS membership pass on my phone, I was told by a rather abrupt lady that I needed the physical pass. She brandished a board and pointed to the micro print at the bottom which apparently stated that I needed the physical pass with me. What's more she seemed to actually enjoy making her point, which just came across as a bit too smug. Reviewing the website, I can see where the ambiguity has arisen on my side; they say: "Please remember to bring any supporting evidence with you on the day" and that "If you do not have your HH card, Gardeners World Card or RHS membership card we will not be able to admit you at the discounted rate.". Nowhere on the website does it say you need a physical card - and doesn't distinguish between one that's on your phone - ie a digital version or in person.
Rather than argue with her, I could see that it wasn't going to get anywhere as she was enjoying being a jobsworth too much. So we turned away and went to the National Trust - where we were treated brilliantly. It's a shame as they missed out on us spending money on lunch, ice creams and my children both got a book each at the NT.
If the policy is that you need the PHYSICAL card, then perhaps it should be clearly stated on the website before people make journey's. In our case it's a 1 hour round trip. Needless to say we will stick to the NT or Hever in the future.
