Do NOT Attend as a Solo Female Traveler

点评：I was let down by my travel companion and had to navigate 12 days in Egypt as a solo female traveler. I bought my ticket online and arrived early for the show. I watched small groups and families arrive and mill around in little pockets waiting for the signal to go to the boats. No-one paid extra for the boat ride.
The Boatmen would not let me get on a boat. They said I had to get a boat by myself and pay them an extra 600 EP. I knew my ticket included the boat ride but they physically blocked me from getting on a boat with others.
I headed back to the ticket office and met an American Family who told me they had not paid extra for the boat ride and agreed that I could get on their boat. The boat men again tried to prevent me from getting on a boat with the American family but I managed to get past them. They then tried to pull me off the boat, saying that I was not allowed to share a boat. We sat at a stalemate during which they came down to 450 EP for my own boat, whilst refusing to take the boat I was on to the temple. Eventually they caved and I rode the boat with the American family to and from the temple.
I shudder to think what would have happened if I hadn't met the American Family. It was dark, I was alone, most of the other guests were French and didn't seem aware of how I was being targeted. Unfortunately, my experience with the boat men ruined the evening for me and I was unable to get the most out of the beautiful music and surroundings.
