点评:What an amazing trip. We went on the bank holiday weekend 2025 and the weather was fantastic. We started the trip with the breadmaking experience. Tracey wasn't available as she was at the Cathedral Arts festival so her friend Eileen led the class (she also makes the homemade jam on sale which is amazing). When we arrived we were treated to some homemade cakes and tea. We got to know the other people on the course and then on with the aprons. Eileen was so informative and made the recipes easy to follow. It was also done in a real easy going fun way and everyone had a good few laughs throughout. I had never done something like this so didn't know what to expect or whether I'd be terrible. We learned to make soda farls, soda bread and potato bread. I've sampled my own produce and I definitely had a great teacher as they are fantastic. At the end of the class we got to sample a number of breads and cakes with a cup of tea, sitting around the kitchen table looking out at the sunny day.
We stayed in Tracey's cottage for the next two nights. We had headed off for a walk and a drive after the breadmaking so checked into the cottage about 2. On the kitchen Island was homemade bread, homemade jam and fresh eggs. It was such a relaxing experience. We went for a few walks, drives and I got a 5 mile run in on the second day. There are a few fantastic spots nearby to get food (Poacher's Pocket was my favourite as I've never had a steak like it but Daft Eddies was top notch as well with lovely scampi). The cottage itself is beautiful. Really comfortable and loads of natural light with a nice patio table and chair to relax. You are literally at the edge of the water on Strangford.
Over the course of the stay Tracey came out and had a chat to us a couple of times. She has a great way about her and had lots of recommendations of places to see and places to eat. Not intrusive at all. Easy going, like the whole weekend.
I'd recommend both the breadmaking and the stay to anyone.
