点评:Firstly, word of warning, on our first attempt the museum was closed, despite the opening hours on the door saying it would be open. Someone came to the door to say it was closed and had been all day. No indication why, presumably for a good reason but a sign on the door might have been nice given there was staff inside who could have stuck a piece of paper in the window. We were staying nearby and quite happy to return the following day, but plenty of other people would have been very disappointed.
The entry price is now pretty whomping, close to £40 for two adults and a child, with the donation, so expectations are very high.
I found the sequence of exhibits didn't help make sense of how the arrival of different cultures and technologies had influenced life in the area. The story was told backwards, which is an unusual choice and for me, didn't work. I would recommend you go straight to the end of the exhibition (ca. 5,000BC) and work your way back to the start to actually understand the history.
I would have liked to understand how historians have worked out how people lived from what has been found, otherwise it feels like conjecture. How do they do know that people making marks on rock was a spectator sport? I would find that interesting.
So a little disappointing for me unfortunately. Still worth a visit if you can afford it but I preferred the previous museum. Check it's open though. Maybe give them a ring.
