点评:The dive shop is run by an elderly grumpy Franco-Swiss, Alex, who at the time of my visit was not really interested in my custom beyond payment. To be fair, he did welcome me and said that I could help myself to free tea or coffee. There was no other small talk. He did talk to another employee, though, who would turn out to be my dive guide. Once all kitted up, his dive plan was, ‘We will go to two sites on the reef’. Full stop. No other conversation took place. To be fair, he helped me sort adjust my mask and weight belt. My already mentioned guide (Dive Master? Instructor? Friend of the house?) named (?) jumped in ahead of me and indicated we were going down. After that, he stayed 4-6m ahead of me and perfunctorily pointed out the odd hermit’s crab and shrimp. We did happen upon a beautiful sea snake, which he then prodded with his magic wand (?!). Besides this, he did not turn around at all. When I had reached 70 bar, I had to swim up to him and pull his fins to get his attention. Never was I asked about my air or anything else. If possible, the second dive was even worse. Again, no interaction and he broke off the dive without inquiry and with me still having over 110 bar in my tank. When we came up, no questions about the dive or anything else.
During surface time, the same picture: I said alone at a table and the other two disappeared. After the computer told us it was ok to go again, Alex said, ‘Let’s go’, the only words directed at me, no proper brief, nada. Upon resurfacing, the same picture, no interaction. I got rid of my gear, with nobody talking to me until I started leaving when he, walking away, muttered, Have a nice vacation.
It was very clear that both were utterly bored and rued the life decisions having brought them to where they were. PADI does offer courses.in Public Relations for Diving ‘Professionals’, and a refresher is in dire need here. Never again.
