点评：I experienced a magic trip up Mt. Morrissey yesterday, led by Kel. I showed up at the Sun Peaks stables much earlier than start time, as it took me no time to bike down there from my condo. I chatted with Kel, the guide and stable hand and asked if I could pat the horses, who were tied up. Soon I was in the paddock currying the horse I would ride. I had my own horse at home for many years and was impressed with the attention Kel gave to each of the 3 horses in the paddock. We talked about the magic beauty of the winter sleigh rides that I’ve taken yearly, and he described the magic of them as well. I noticed Kel was very attentive and careful in currying, cleaning hooves and tacking up the horses. And he talked about the temperaments of each. He took me up to the other paddocks and pastures and named the other horses and described their characters. On the trail he pointed out features and place names. We made it to the top in almost two hours. I have skied Mt. Morrissey every year for a decade, now, and it was magic to recognize the sites in summer. The horses were incredibly calm and well behaved in these out-back areas. I had truly a “wonder-full” time.
In my time, I have experienced at other stables quite a bit of potentially unsafe behavior and lax attitudes and I experienced none of that here. Kel understands horse behavior, knows these horses well and monitors safety at all times. I will come again next summer, hoping to bring my son and daughter in law.
