点评:We stayed in the center of the St. Charles Historic District at Boone's Colonial Inn (c.1820) and felt like we had a front row seat during our visit. These 16 blocks that are on the National Register of Historic Places is something right out of a Hollywood movie set, particularly at night. With the Missouri River flowing in the short distance, the red brick road and loaded with historic properties, St. Charles is an American treasure of the highest level. Our Inn was in the "Stone Row" section, and we marveled at all the shops and restaurants that were there in this easily walkable area.
Founded in 1769 by a French Canadian fur trader, calling it "The Little Hills", it soon became St Charles after the Louisiana Purchase and Lewis and Clark's expedition. The full history is very interesting, and St. Charles should be on every travelers to visit list.
