Safe and enjoyable boat experience at Jokulsarlon

点评：One of the interesting activities which you can participate at the Jokulsarlon glacial lagoon is an amphibian boat tour (6900kr - adult, 3500kr - child). The tour can be reserved online but we didn't find that necessary during our June visit when they were running boat trips every 10-15 minuted during the middle of the day. We were able to walk up to the ticket office next to the gift shop in the main carpark and purchase tickets for a boat leaving in half an hour.
Boarding the Amphibian boat tours takes place near the ticketing office. You are provided with life preserver. After boarding they make a short drive to a boat launch location and off you go into the lake which is a beautiful blue colour. You are taken near floating icebergs while the guide tells you about the glacier, its lifespan and recession which is forming and expanding the lagoon constantly. You may spot a seal or two in the water or if lucky resting on an iceberg. The boat trip is around 30-40 minutes and they will have you back at the main centre. There is a safety boat that follows you throughout in the event of emergency.
On the whole we found this to be a very safe boat experience and a nice opportunity to see icebergs from a much closer distance than you normally can from the shore. Would be happy to do the Amphibian Boat Tour again in the future.
