点评:Visited for the second time on Monday 30th September 2024. 3 years after my initial visit. It's free to enter as part of the Science Museum, with exhibits switching between the National Railway Museum in York and this site. As such in the 3 years in between visits, a few things had changed in terms of locos on show in the main building plus the new hall had recently opened. Parking is plentiful but it's still a little unclear in terms of how you are meant to access the site from the car park in terms of signage. Once inside the main building, there is a small cafe with cool Eurostar-style seating as an option. It is terribly understocked and staffed which didn't matter on the day we visited but could be an issue if it was anything other than pretty quiet. The rolling stock is well presented and the history of each and where applicable its relevance to the location. This includes elevated platforms, which are sadly missing from the new hall. This new hall is interesting if you are interested in wagons, but tbh is a little underwhelming at present. Will be back and hopefully the new hall will be developed more along with the outside rolling stock area.
