点评:We love small museums off the beaten path, and the Narvik Vehicle History Museum certainly qualifies! After buying tickets in the war museum / tourist office / library lobby, you take the elevator down to the bottom level of a parking garage, exit the rear, turn left, scan your tickets at the door, and probably have the place all to yourselves!
With a collection maintained by an automotive society, there are a lot of fun little surprises. My favorite surprise was the collection of newspaper clippings from various Norwegian and American newspapers with some positively absurd stuff from early days of car ownership, such as a dog carrying bag mounted on the outside of the car or recommending that children stand in the front seat so that in the event of a crash they hit the windshield from a closer distance than being flung from the back seat!
But the coolest thing in the museum, especially if you have taken the Ofoten Line (as I recommend in a review of that attraction!) is a miniature train reproduction that showcases the delicate dance between the freight train and the passenger train. There’s even a working waterfall!
Anyway, totally worth 45 minutes if you’re in Narvik!
